ABOUT THE COLMEIA PROJECT

WHAT IS COLMEIA?

COLMEIA is a non-profit community project run and created by COOPERATIVA INTEGRAL DA TERRA - It is dedicated to serving the Western Algarve and Southern Alentejo region, including Lagos, Vila do Bispo, Aljezur, Monchique, Portimão, Colos (Odemira), Vila Nova de Milfontes and Cercal do Alentejo.

Our main focus is to strengthen local connections and the region's economy by taking care of all the food logistics.

In co-operation with our great partners in our FOOD HUBS, which consist of several locations, we have established a NETWORK OF DISTRIBUTORS (see map) to get as close to people as possible. However, these FOOD HUBS are much more than just a logistical partner.

All of us.
Whether you are a co-operator, investor, supporter, consultant, friend, consumer, producer or prosumer, you are part of COLMEIA. In addition, there is a group dedicated to making our COLMEIA ecosystem healthy and sustainable.

Since 2022, COLMEIA made significant progress. We had a new catalogue, both printed and online, and we expanded our network of partners, suppliers and local producers.

Our dedicated core team of four employees, two drivers, together with our FOOD HUB PARTNERS, the infrastructure of COOPERATIVA INTEGRAL DA TERRA, serving a wide geographical area.

Whilst we strive for perfection, unintentional challenges can occasionally arise during ordering and delivery. However, we are committed to realising the vision of the COLMEIA.

This ONLINE SHOP is an important step for us, which we would like to take further with you.

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER

Mainly organic food for daily needs at home and for businesses
With our staple foodswe cover a large proportion, such as cereals, pasta, nuts, preserves, sweets, sauces and oils.
We complement our range with specialities and unique products from the region, sourced from our partners and local producers.

With the help of COOPERATIVA INTEGRAL DA TERRA, you can become one of these partners and supplement the existing food supply with your local organic products or replace an existing product on the world market with a better, locally produced one. In this way, together, we can get our region's economy moving again.
